Officer Elections
All Positions listed below require you to be available Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 12 - 1 PM and to attend PMC events on Friday Evenings.
Each position is a necessary part of our team, a time commitment, and a sacrifice!
We want our 100+ members to have the best experiences possible at the PMC, and we can’t do that without lot’s of effort and dedication from our lovely officers!
This is not just an easy bullet point on your resume. Being an officer is a wonderful and fulfilling experience, but it doesn’t come without lots of work!
Available Officer Positions (2025 - 2026)
Secretary – The voice of the club! The secretary sends out PMC emails to inform members of upcoming events and takes notes during the meetings, because presidents have lousy memories! The Secretary is in charge of the PMC email and being a professional person of contact within the club. Secretary is the one who interacts with members on a regular basis, answering emails and keeping up to date with events. It is advisable to be available to work on your secretary duties on Wednesdays and Tuesdays in order to keep up with your responsibilities and our meeting times. In the rare chance of the President and Vice-President being gone, the Secretary steps up. Secretary Position is 6+ hours a week of commitment. Someone who is organized, able to handle professional correspondence, and has mastery over Google Docs would fit well in this position.
Advertiser – The propaganda machine! Advertisers make all the posters and puts them up to inform the student body of upcoming events. Professional events (speakers, etc.), make them neat, and fun member events (The Film Festival, PMC Speed Draw social, drawing challenge). Aside from designing the posters, advertisers also print and hang posters, and help out with all collaborative PMC events! The advertiser position is roughly a 6+ hour a week commitment. Someone who has an eye for graphic design, is handy with the Adobe Suite, and flexible for quick turn over rates would fit well into this position.
Social Media Coordinator – The Facebooker! The Instagrammer! The Discord Mod! The Social Media Coordinator is responsible for creating content and posting events/news on the PMC’s website and social media pages ASAP. This includes Facebook, Instagram, Discord, and Twitter. Will work closely with the Advertiser to post flyers and such. It also means watching over the PMC’s discord server, as well as updating the PMC website! Someone who loves interacting and engaging with members, who is organized, has a good understanding of social media and software, and is very flexible for ASAP posts would fit well into this position. This position is roughly a 6+ hour a week commitment, which is the ability to be able to post on the fly when needed.
Event Coordinator – These people figure out all of the logistics for speaker events, studio tours, social events, and life drawing! They reserve the rooms, chaperone the guests, and make dreams a reality. Really, the lifeblood of the club, all of our events are planned and executed by Event Coordinators. ECs are expected to attend and assist with 70 percent of all our events. This position is a 10+ hour a week commitment including attendance to our events. Be prepared to go out of your comfort zone, learn lots of new things, and bring ideas to life. Someone who is able to learn quickly, collaborates well, is very communicative, and actively participates in PMC events would fit well in this position.
Historian – Historians document all the events by taking pictures and videos for the PMC library for future generations of PMC-ites. Post them in a timely manner to the Facebook page to amp up excitement for other members, and even non-members who see the page. Historians are also responsible for assisting in all collaborative events and must have availability on Friday nights, have access to a camera, and ensure the coverage of each PMC event. If you are a very active member who wants to capture lot’s of memories, has a knack for photography, and silent stealthy movements, you would fit well into this position.
Arts Inter-Club Council (AICC) Representative – The ambassador for the Pencil Mileage Club, that helps get funding from ASI for guest speakers and events. Top hat, pompous monocle, and snooty cigar required. You will need to have Monday afternoons 12-1 p.m. free to present on behalf of PMC! AICC is roughly 4+ hours of work a week. Someone who is a good communicator, a confident speaker, unintimidated by fancy rules of order, and able to whip up a google slides presentation would be a great fit for this role.
Librarian – The Librarian will create a list of the PMC’s collection of art books, and devote a few hours per week in the evening, similar to the role of a lab monitor, so that students may check out books. The Librarian would also be given a budget, in order to select new, insightful art books to add to the PMC’s collection. These can be sketchbooks, art-of books, anything the librarian deems appropriate and useful. Strong writing and communication skills are essential for this position, as throughout the school year, the Librarian will continue to update the Alumni Project, a research project devoted to the history of the Pencil Mileage Club, by collecting images, history, organizing old posters, mascots, tracking and listing previous PMC speakers and officers, etc., to later be cataloged on the PMC’s website.
